THE WORK, ORGANIZATIONS & MARKETS (WOM) WORKSHOP brings together faculty and graduate students who study organizational phenomena from across the social sciences at Harvard, especially the Sociology Department and Harvard Business School.

Its subject matter includes all three levels of analysis in organizational research: individual behavior and interaction in organizational settings; the structure and action of organizations as social entities; and the characteristics of groups, networks, or populations of organizations.

Above all, the workshop aims to provide a supportive environment for doctoral students to present and get feedback on their work, and to build a community of peers whose research covers topics in macro-OB / sociology. We welcome research at all stages of development – from preliminary research proposals to more polished job talks.

WOM qualifies for “workshop credit” for purposes of satisfying Sociology Department course requirements. You can register for WOM either as Sociology 3326 or as HBS DOC 4911.
